The Bachelor of Liberal Studies (BLS) program is designed for students to wish to complete a bachelor degree online. The BLS degree emphasizes workplace and leadership skills, and is ideal for adults balancing professional growth and busy lives. Courses are offered completely online and can be taken from anywhere. Students living in the Iowa City area may mix on campus courses with online course work.

Course work

Students complete 30 hours of Common Core/General Education requirements and also choose from one of three tracks: Global Studies, Health and Human Studies, Organizational Studies, and may also choose to complete a Certificate program: Entrepreneurial Management, Leadership Studies, Nonprofit Management and Public Health.

Admission requirements

  • 24 s.h. of transferable college credit with a cumulative GPA of 2.00 or above
  • A high school degree at least three years before admission to BLS
    OR
  • AA, AS, or AAS from a regionally accredited institution with a cumulative GPA of 2.00 or above
